Apocalypse Now

It’s hard not to be cynical when seemingly everyone cheats, manipulates, scams, exploits, dupes and swindles.

The twin announcement that both the winner of the Tour De France and the world’s fastest man have both tested positive to drugs has rocked the world of sport to its very core.

Is there anyone out there who isn’t on drugs?

When Ben Johnson tested positive all those years ago at Seoul - it was a massive shock and everyone thought if the biggest domino would get caught then maybe that was needed to clean up sport. Instead the opposite occurred.

Now shock has been replaced by apathy. We know everyone is on drugs, its just a matter of who is caught.

And if cheating is so prolific in sport why would it be any less so in any other form of life? If an American election can be rigged then surely anything and everything else can be?

Why do we all break out in a cold sweat when there is a problem with our car and we have to take it a mechanic?

As for the media? We all know about this and also all know that the truth is the first casualty of war.

Like I said its hard not to be a cynic.

Jack - I wanted Bush to win against Gore so I am happy with the result. But the way things transpired from start to finish clearly indicate that much of it wasn't kosher.

They eliminated thousands of eligible voters from the roll. You think this is ok?

How can you be so ignorant? They rigged the election and then rigged the Supreme Court so the ruling would go in their favor. What do you think Katharine Harris was doing the whole time?

Dot,

This has already been proven false. Gore blew the election. I voted for him and was pissed that Bush won, but I didn't buy into conspiracy theories.

Anon,

The only ignorant thing I see here are your unsubstantiated comments.

It was proven false? How was it proved?

Barry Bonds is a cheat. They all dive in football. About the only people in world sport who aren't cheats are Tiger Woods and Roger Federer.

First of all, as a big TdF fan ( TdF=Lance=Jake ), Landis tested positive as having an abnormal amount of testosterone. This is actually normal in some men, believe it or not, and Landis is due to take another test, which will ( hopefully ) prove this. So, I'd like to believe that he DIDNT cheat.

As for Bush - that just proves that one CAN be convicted of an underage DUI, and still be POTUS.

Helps though if your daddy was also POTUS.

Anon I - Think the Wicked Witch of the East is running for the senate now

Anon II - You forgot the Superbowl and NBA Finals officiating!

Anon III - Isn't Jake going to be playing Lance in a movie. That is a lot of testosterone!

thats why we have to be doubly careful at home in our communities, i hate the double standard, but if at least we can avoid cheats and liars and scammers at home, we might be able to fight off the cynicsm that the rest of the world breeds

Sorry dot.co, but the election wasn't rigged. Period. I'm a Floridian and watched that election closely. Three different groups of newspapers....most of which endorsed Gore....went back and investigated the election. All three groups found that Bush won the election.

You're damaging your credibility by linking to moonbat website like Dubya Report.

Carly - Thanks :)

anonym00kie - fair call

Anon - should be something to look forward to.

Sobersubmrnr - I didn't know anything about the Dubya report but just wanted a link. Given what you say I will no longer think that there was any foul play.

No offense ment, it's just that folks like Anonymous have been making these claims since 2000, despite those claims being discredited by their ideological kin in the media. Even Gore eventually said Bush won.

As for the purge of the voter rolls, that was way overdue. That was an attempt to get all the convicted felons and illegals off the rolls, which should have been done years before hand. If you want to see voter fraud, take a look at what has been going on in Democrat strongholds like southern California, Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit. Vote early and vote often, even if you're in a coffin!
