After the completion of the first lot of pool matches good time to take stock and give out some grades.
Thumbs Up
Korea – First ever World Cup win outside of Korea.
Australia – First ever World Cup goal and win.
Mexico – Impressive first up showing.
Argentina - Bounced back from a poor tournament last time.
Spain – Could this be the year……they make it past the Quarter Finals?
Red Cards – Just three from the first 16 matches.
Chelsea – The likes of Cech, Essien, Gallas, Cole, Drogba, Lampard, Crespo, Robben, Terry, Ballack, Shevchenko would be making the folk at Stamford Bridge very optimistic.
Goals – 39 Goals from 16 matches. Just two 0-0 draws.
Internet – Coverage and news has never been better courtesy of the Information Superhighway.

France – Yawn.
USA – Undid four years of progress in 90 minutes.
Italian Tops – Revolting.
FIFA – Limiting tickets and making people think it is a sell out only for there to be loads of empty seats.
Heat – Player welfare has to be a higher priority.

Hey what about England??
An yeah I agree with sweatshop but they might have looked that good because of their apponants...
Spain have won one match which is nothing to write home about yet. They will probably top the group which means playing the second team of Korea-Switzerland-France and if they play Korea they will be so fired up for revenge.
But one match doesn't wipe the slate clean of 70 years of mediocrity.
As for England, Exsemgirl - they are the seeded team in the group and won their match in a pretty scrappy fashion. Nothing to be excited about yet.

precision passing.
I hope they go far in the tournament.
